Fires in the Mirror – Free Admission for Students
Greetings from Mustard Seed Theatre!
Fires in the Mirror, by Anna Deavere Smith, runs January 28 – February 7, 2010 and all performances are FREE to college and high school students.
The play offers an in-depth look at the racial disturbances that rocked Crown Heights, Brooklyn in 1991, when an African-American child was accidentally struck by a limousine carrying a Hasidic rabbi. The play features two actresses playing a variety of roles – male and female, young and old, famous and anonymous – caught up in the conflict. Though the events of the play take place nearly twenty years ago, its themes are still timely, and the questions it raises still vitally important for us today.
Thursday through Saturday performances are at 8 PM; Sunday performances are at 2 PM. Additionally, we are offering two weekday matinee performances: Tuesday, February 2 at 11 AM, and Thursday, February 4 at 12:30 PM. All performances are free for students. Mustard Seed Theatre is a professional theatre company in residence at Fontbonne University, located in the Fine Arts building at 6800 Wydown Boulevard.
