Advocacy Communications Internship
Advocacy Communications Internship
Missouri Votes Conservation (MVC) is seeking an intern for the spring of 2010 to support communications around our legislative advocacy work.
MVC is a non-partisan, statewide nonprofit organization that advocates for pro-environment legislation and political candidates in Missouri. We engage in lobbying on behalf of state-level environmental and conservation policies on a range of issues, such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, factory farming, and water quality.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in learning more about the legislative process in Missouri, about nonpartisan advocacy, and about statewide environmental issues.
The intern will:
• Assist staff in tracking environmental legislation of interest
• Draft weekly summaries of legislative updates for website (www.movotesconservation.org) and emails (includes learning to use web-based email-blast software)
• Assist with planning of Conservation Lobby Day (Feb. 3 in Jefferson City), such as scheduling appointments, editing fact sheets, coordinating logistics
• Perform office tasks as assigned, such as data entry to manage our membership database, assisting with mailings, and phone calls
Qualified candidates should possess strong written and oral communication skills (especially writing for email and website content), and be able to work independently. Interest in environmental issues is desirable; knowledge of the legislative process is helpful. We have a small staff and are seeking a motivated person to work as part of the team.
The intern is expected to work at MVC’s offices (in Delmar Loop), approximately 15 hours per week from January to May (preferably 3 days/week, but can be tailored to your schedule). This is an unpaid position; however college credit can be obtained depending on your college or university’s requirements.
Please send cover letter and resume ASAP to Martine Wisotsky by December 14 at mwisotsky@movotesconservation.org.
